Suburban Recognized for Commitment to Organ Donation

Did you know that every 10 minutes, someone is added to the transplant waiting list, and one organ donor can save eight lives? The Washington Regional Transplant Community, which recovers donated organs and tissues for lifesaving and lifeenhancing transplants, research and therapy in the Washington, DC, area recently presented Suburban Hospital with two awards. Margery Donovan, MS, BS, RN, Intensive Care Unit assistant nurse manager was recognized as a “Donation Champion” for her commitment to the infrequent and complex process of organ, eye and tissue donation. Additionally, the hospital received the organization’s Silver Medal of Honor Award for meeting several organ donor-related criteria.
