A Memo from Jackie Schultz, President, on Suburban Hospital's 75th Anniversary
I am incredibly excited to share that Suburban Hospital’s 75th Anniversary is almost here! This Thursday, December 13th, we will celebrate 75 years as an indispensable resource and integral part of our greater- Bethesda community.
It is almost hard to believe that Suburban Hospital began as a 130-bed hospital with an operating budget of $13,000! Times have certainly changed as our hospital has kept pace with local growth and increased demand for world-class local healthcare. Our campus transformation and clinical addition represent what is certainly only the next iteration of Suburban’s evolution.
For Suburban’s official birthday, we are asking everyone to show their Suburban pride by wearing their Suburban Hospital gear this Thursday, December 13th. This could be a sweatshirt with the Suburban Hospital logo from 20 years ago or a Suburban Under Armour jacket from this year’s Hospital Week celebration. If you are new to the hospital, please ask a manager or colleague to share something from their collection. One of the things I love best about Suburban is the tremendous sense of community and camaraderie.
Throughout the day, members of the senior leadership team and I will also be distributing small tokens of our appreciation to various units and departments. This is just one of several ways in which we continue to recognize this special milestone and celebrate both our history and our future.
Please accept my sincere thanks for your ongoing commitment to Suburban’s mission, vision and values. Even as we are steeped in history, we are ready for the next 75 years of outstanding service. Everyone here, including staff, physicians, volunteers and our community members, helps make Suburban who we are and are a testament to our ongoing passion for excellence in care.
